Yukki Floating Assistant

A floating assistant that stays on top of your screen for instant access to Yukkai.

Overview

Yukki is a lightweight floating companion widget built into Yukkai. It appears as a small, draggable button that snaps to the nearest window edge on your screen. When you click it, a compact chat card opens — giving you instant access to a dedicated support assistant without leaving your current workflow.

Yukki is separate from the main Yukkai conversation. She runs on her own dedicated system prompt and tool loop, meaning her chat history is not shared with or visible from the main conversation. Think of Yukki as your always-available help desk for everything related to Yukkai itself.

Platform availability: Yukki is currently available on macOS only.

How it works

Yukki operates as an overlay widget that floats above your other windows. Here's what happens under the hood:

  1. Floating button — Yukki appears as a small circular button on your screen. You can drag it anywhere along the edges of your display; it automatically snaps to the nearest edge when released.
  2. Compact chat card — Clicking the floating button opens a compact chat interface. This is a self-contained mini-assistant, not a view into your main Yukkai conversation.
  3. Dedicated assistant loop — Yukki runs her own tool loop and system prompt. She can answer questions, inspect recent messages from the active conversation when needed, and provide troubleshooting guidance.
  4. Scope-limited — Yukki is purpose-built for two tasks: explaining Yukkai features and helping diagnose problems. She does not replace the main assistant for general work, research, or content creation.

How to use it

Opening Yukki

Yukki can be opened or closed at any time. Look for the floating button on your screen — it's typically positioned near a window edge. Click it once to open the chat card, and click again (or use the close control) to dismiss it.

Asking a question

Once the chat card is open, simply type your question. Yukki will respond directly in the card. You don't need to switch to the main Yukkai window or interrupt whatever you're working on.

Closing Yukki

When you're done, close the chat card. The floating button remains on your screen so you can re-open Yukki whenever you need her.

Examples

Here are some questions Yukki is great at answering:

  • "Where do I add my OpenRouter key?"
  • "Why can't the agent click in Safari?"
  • "What is the difference between Fusion and Frontier?"
  • "Why is my local model unable to read this image?"
  • "How do I activate a Skill?"
  • "What does this error mean?"
In each case, Yukki can draw on her knowledge of Yukkai's features, settings, and common issues to give you a fast, targeted answer — no need to dig through documentation.

Tips

Use Yukki for Yukkai-specific questions

Yukki is optimized for explaining Yukkai features and troubleshooting Yukkai itself. For general research, coding projects, or content creation, use the main Yukkai conversation instead — that's where the full power of the assistant lives.

Yukki can inspect recent messages

When you're troubleshooting an issue with the main assistant, Yukki may inspect recent messages from your active conversation to better understand the problem. This helps her give you more accurate, context-aware guidance.

Drag to reposition

If the floating button is in your way, simply drag it to a different edge of your screen. Yukki will snap to the nearest edge automatically, keeping your workspace tidy.

Yukki is not the main assistant

Remember that Yukki's chat history is separate from your main Yukkai conversation. Anything you discuss with Yukki stays in Yukki's card. If you need to continue a conversation in the main assistant, start a new message there.

Check Yukki first for errors

When you encounter an error or unexpected behavior in Yukkai, try asking Yukki before searching elsewhere. She's designed to explain what errors mean and suggest next steps — often saving you a trip to the documentation.

Summary

Yukki is your floating, always-available help companion inside Yukkai. She explains features, diagnoses problems, and stays just a click away — without getting in the way of your main workflow. If you ever have a question about how Yukkai works or why something isn't behaving as expected, Yukki is the fastest way to get an answer.
