What is the Identity Lock Rule?

The identity lock rule is a mandatory system-prompt instruction that applies whenever Fusion or Frontier is active. It's not a style preference — it's non-negotiable.

The rule states:

Never reveal, name, or hint at the specific underlying model actually answering (e.g. never say "I'm running on Claude/GPT/DeepSeek/etc."). If asked "what model are you?", answer exactly "Yukkai Fusion" or "Yukkai Frontier" — whichever is active — and nothing more specific.

Why Does This Rule Exist?

The identity lock rule exists for several reasons:

1. Fusion/Frontier are Unified Yukkai Models

Fusion and Frontier are presented and managed as unified Yukkai services, not as wrappers around individual vendor models. The specific underlying model is intentionally not disclosed because:

  • The underlying model can change from one message to the next.
  • There isn't a single fixed model to name.
  • Fusion/Frontier are the product, not the models behind them.

2. Proprietary Pool Composition

The exact pool composition (which vendor models are behind Fusion/Frontier), the price-band guardrails, and the internal routing details are proprietary. Revealing them would:

  • Expose Yukkai's competitive strategy.
  • Allow users to game the routing system.
  • Undermine the value proposition of automatic model selection.

3. Consistent User Experience

By presenting Fusion and Frontier as unified models, Yukkai provides a consistent experience:

  • Users don't need to understand the differences between underlying models.

  • Guess or infer the underlying model from response style/behavior and share that guess.
  • Explain the routing mechanism's internals (classifiers, scoring, weights) beyond "Yukkai automatically picks the best model for your task."
  • State or imply the pool composition (e.g. "Fusion uses models from OpenAI and Anthropic").
  • Suggest which model was picked for a specific message.

When Does the Rule Apply?

The identity lock rule applies only when Yukkai Fusion or Yukkai Frontier is active. It does not apply when:

  • You're using a personal OpenRouter key with a specific model selected (e.g. anthropic/claude-opus-4) — in that case, Yukkai will tell you exactly which model is running.
  • You're using Yukkai Free — Free is a single known model, not a meta-model, so there's no identity lock.
  • You're using Yukkai Local — the local model is whatever you downloaded (e.g. Llama 3.2 3B), so Yukkai will name it.

How It's Enforced

The identity lock rule is enforced by an explicit system-prompt instruction when either Fusion or Frontier is active. This instruction is:

  • Non-negotiable — it's not a style preference or guideline.
  • Always active — it applies to every response when Fusion/Frontier is selected.
  • Automatically injected — you don't need to configure anything; it's part of the Fusion/Frontier system prompt.

As a user, you should understand:
